Quick instincts and cool heads helped two Port Authority police officers avert a potentially tragic situation on Monday after a man allegedly pulled an air pistol from his pants and told them, “I have something for you.”

The incident took place around 3:30 p.m. outside the Airtrain at Jamaica Station in Queens, according to officials from the Port Authority of NY/NJ.

The man – later identified as Reginald Clark, 45 – allegedly set the incident in motion when he put his bag on the turnstile and turned to two nearby officers.

“I have something for you,” Clark reportedly told the officers as he reached into his waistband, according to Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo.

The officers told Clark to freeze but he allegedly refused to comply, Pentangelo stated.

When Clark pulled an air pistol from his pants, the officers quickly disarmed him and took him into custody, as seen in the below video.

Following his arrest, Clark allegedly told officers that he was bi-polar and was off his medication, police stated.

Emergency responders transported Clark to Jamaica Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Inside the bag, officers found rounds for the air pistol, police said.

Authorities charged Clark with menacing, criminal possession of a weapon and possession of an air pistol.
