DWI Crash With Child Passenger In 5 Towns: Cops

LAWRENCE, NY — A DWI Leandra's Law arrest took place on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Lawrence.

Rachael Hess, 44 of Far Rockaway, crashed her vehicle into a black Honda HRV on Rockaway Turnpike near Broadway, police said.

After an investigation, Hess was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A 10-year boy, who was a passenger, was released into the custody of a family member, detectives said.

The vehicle was impounded.

Hess also faces a count of endangering the welfare of a child. She was scheduled for arraignment on Friday.
