Woman Gets Violent Resisting Arrest; Injures Officer: Police
Annessa Knight faces charges that include assault and criminal contempt, police say.

INWOOD, NY — A woman has been arrested for assaulting a police officer early Tuesday in Inwood.
Officers observed a 2010 Honda Accord with tinted windows and no front license at 1 a.m. heading south on Sheridan Boulevard.
At a traffic stop, the 36-year-old male driver physically refused multiple orders, police placed him under arrest, detectives said.

The passenger, Annessa Knight, 27, of Manhattan, approached officers during their investigation and became verbally aggressive, detectives said.
She also ignored the officers' commands. While placing Knight in custody, she was violent and combative, leading to an officer sustaining injuries, police said.

The officer was treated at a nearby hospital. Knight refused medical treatment at the scene. However, after she was taken to the local police precinct, Knight requested an ambulance and was taken to a hospital for assessment.
She was charged with second-degree assault, resisting arrest, criminal contempt, criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration. She will be arraigned when medically practically, according to police.
