Lawrence Pre-Kindergarten Students Celebrate Read Aloud Day

LAWRENCE, NEW YORK (FEBRUARY 2024)—Lawrence pre-kindergarten students joined millions of young learners around the world in celebrating Read Aloud Day, an annual event created by the nonprofit organization LitWorld and sponsored by Scholastic. This global celebration, which is observed in over 173 countries, aims to bring people together through a shared love of reading.

“We are thrilled to participate in Read Aloud Day and provide our students with the opportunity to experience the joy of reading,” said Patricia Almonaitis, Lawrence Pre-Kindergarten Director. “Reading aloud not only enhances their language skills but can also foster a lifelong love for books and learning.”

On Read Aloud Day, Lawrence’s young learners listened to a live read-aloud session and were captivated by the enchanting stories and engaging narratives brought to life. The event sparked their imagination and instilled a love for reading. In addition to the read-aloud session, the students were given the chance to choose a book to take home and keep. This initiative aimed to encourage a culture of reading beyond the classroom, allowing the students to continue their literacy adventures at home.
