Auto theft in the gardens

I live on Burns Street, across from the park, and had to call the police at 2 am b/c someone tried to break into our car and broke into our neighbors car. Our car alarm went off and when we got to the window to see what was going on, we spotted a blonde girl, around 16 or 17, trying to open our car door. Another teenager, a male, had already broken into my neighbors car and was rummaging through it. I yelled out and said I was calling the cops and they fled. We called the cops. 
What is happening in this neighborhood? One thing I noticed is that there are no Gardens patrol cars driving around anymore. I can't remember the last time I saw one. There are always weird people walking around here at night. We pay through the nose to live here and we are not even safe on our own street!
