Bites Nearby: Discover Queens Restaurant Week

Forest Hills foodies are facing a problem that most bargain eaters would love to tackle. They have eight days to enjoy specially priced meals at 14 local restaurants.

That’s almost two dining experiences per day.

The Discover Queens Restaurant Week will kick off this Monday, Sept. 19, and will carry on until Sept. 22. Then it will have a second run Sept. 26-29.

Most establishments will offer three-course, prix fixe dinners for $25, but some eateries will present other deals. And a couple of restaurants will cook up lunch specials as well.

And for those who want to venture out of the friendly confines of Forest Hills, almost 90 restaurants – spread out over about 30 neighborhoods – are involved in this year’s eighth annual Discover Queens Restaurant Week. There’s everything from Croatian dishes in Astoria to Thai cuisine in The Rockaways.

Now in its eighth year, the Discover Queens Restaurant Week strives to give local diners the chance to enjoy eating out at low prices, while bringing patrons to local businesses. Last year, participating restaurants saw an average of roughly 20 percent more patronage.
