A Different Way to Worship in Forest Hills

Taize Prayer comes to Forest Hills! Read my post to find out more.

I think something we can be proud of in Forest Hills is a diverse faith community.  There are a lot of options for people looking for spiritual growth and development in many alternate forms.

Something new I have stumbled upon lately is Taizé Prayer, fairly new to our little community.  It's being offered on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at 6:30 p.m at St. Luke's Church.  http://www.stlukesforesthills.org/

Taizé Prayer originated as a type of monastic prayer in France but has spread and development into a global movement.  Prayer and silence are at the heart of the Taizé experience, which promotes a spirit of joy, simplicity, and reconciliation.

Set in the Christian tradition, unity is the key to Taizé's appeal, making it a magnet for people of many different cultures and traditions.

Taizé music highlights simple phrases, usually lines from the Psalms or other pieces of scripture, repeated or sung in canon. The repetition is designed to help meditation and prayer.

I think it's a great new addition to the various types of worship going on in Forest Hills, something a little calmer, and less mainstream than a lot of the traditional services we see in Forest Hills faith community.

If you're interested, St. Luke's is located at 85 Greenway South and you can find out more at their website listed above.
