About Yant Tattoo Studio
Yant Tattoo Studio, an upscale tattoo studio & art space is opened on Austin Street, in the heart of Forest Hills, located on the 2nd Floor of Bareburger. Yant Tattoo Studio is a collective of diverse, talented and passionate artists who strive for perfection. The word “Yant” means a form of tattooing originally introduced by Khmer people of the Khmer Empire which influenced much of its culture in the region during its reign. It consists of sacred geometrical, animal and deity designs accompanied by Pali phrases that offer power, protection, fortune, charisma and other benefits for the bearer. These days, it remains popular in Cambodia, Thailand, and also in Laos and Myanmar (Burma). Sak means tattoo in Thai and Khmer, while yan, yant and yoan are the Thai and Khmer pronunciation for the Sanskrit word yantra respectively, a type of mystical diagram used in Dharmic religions.
Additionally to the tattoo studio, Yant is also an art space of Forest Hills with art exhibitions, art classes and related art event. From the first day Yant opens its door, the studio has been receiving a great welcoming from the neighborhood and it shows that Forest Hills is not only the place for all great concerts, but it is now the new art spot of Queens.
