At this workshop, you will learn how houses of worship can be more sustainable through energy efficiency. Michael Kriegh leads the Sustainable Houses of Worship Initiative at Pratt Center and has assisted many faith-based organizations to reduce utility costs through energy audit process and retrofit projects. He will share case studies to show where and how facilities can reduce operation costs and be green at the same time. Jay-E Emmingham will present NYSERDA's incentives to finance retrofit projects and resources to help congregations become more sustainable. Elizabeth Mooney will speak about the greening initiative of the Church in the Gardens in Forest Hills and Peggy Kurtz of Central Queens YM & YWHA will speak briefly about the Y’s green initiatives to reduce energy bills.
At the end of the workshop, we will sign you up for a FREE energy audit if your facility has an average electric demand under 100 kW or less. Please bring the following information: electric account number, size of facility (sq.ft), FIN, annual electric, natural gas (and/or) oil costs.
