Kupferberg Center, Queens College Concert “1001 Voices” Sunday, April 29 @ 3 PM – A family-friendly concert with Carlos Franzetti’s family Latin opera “Gauchito & the Pony”, exploring the musical styles of 10 different Latin American countries told by narrator, singers, the orchestra and multi-media projections.

The commissioned WORLD PREMIERE of “1001 Voices: a Symphony for Queens” is a three-movement symphony that reflects the ideas of transformation, migration and finding home; fusing instrumental music, poetic text and song via the orchestra, ethnic instruments, actors, visual projections and a 190-voice choir comprised of The Queens College Choral Society and Queens College Choir under the direction of James John. “1001 Voices” is composed by Frank London (of the Klezmatics), libretto & actor Judith Sloan (co-creator of “Crossing the BLVD”), visuals by Warren Lehrer (co-creator of “Crossing the BLVD”) & Brandon Campbell, and features 4 actors in 4 different languages and Deep Singh, tabla soloist.
