Gingerbread Players Fall Show: THREE SISTERS - Nov. 8th

The Gingerbread Players Presents Chekov's THREE SISTERS opening November 8th at St. Luke's Church

The Gingerbread Players of Saint Luke’s Church will present Anton Chekhov’s classic drama,

opening November 8. THREE SISTERS transports us to a provincial 19th century family in crisis and a world in transition. The Prozorovs are living nearly 900 miles from their beloved hometown of Moscow, and their yearning to return becomes the symbol of the quest for happiness. Written in 1900, when the playwright was himself exiled from Moscow for health reasons, THREE SISTERS’ myriad admirers include George Bernard Shaw, Tennessee Williams, Eugene O’Neill, Sam Shepard, Wendy Wasserstein, David Mamet, Tracy Letts, Lanford Wilson and Woody Allen. The translation by Deloss Brown will please contemporary ears while preserving the character of the famed Constance Garnett translation from which

it is adapted. Jillian Smith and pianist Velma Adams will perform traditional and popular Russian music.
