So baseball's trade deadline — and the PR tornado that it generates — has come and gone. The Mets? They stayed quiet. No new players coming in, no fan favorites going out. 

Given the nosedive that the team had taken in the standings after the All-Star Break, some sports pundits thought the Mets could be sellers.
