Halloween, Music And A 5K Run

From regional theater to a children's opera, along with Israeli pop and a number of Halloween-themed events, there are plenty of happenings taking place this weekend. Here are some of the highlights:

Catch the LA Theater Works production of “The Graduate,” Friday-Sunday at Queens Theatre,, 14 United Nations Avenue South., Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Learn more. 

The Idan Raichel Project, known for its cross-cultural collaborations that changed the face of Israeli pop music, will be at Landmark on Main Street, Friday at 8 p.m. Learn more. Then on Sunday at 2 p.m., return for The Band of Long Island, whose program includes “Andante & Allegro" by J. Ed. Barat, “The Best of Lerner and Loewe,” “Under The Double Eagle” march, and for the proximity to Hallowe’en, “La Tregenda,” better known as “The Dance of Witches Sabbath,”  and Rimsky-Korsakoff’s “Capriccio Espagnol.” Learn more. 

Sheehan’s Bar & Grill on Saturday is throwing a “Rockin’ Halloween Party.”  The evening features Halloween cocktail specials, half price appetizers live music by Soul Picnic and a costume party with prizes.  Saturday, 9 p.m. 171-57 46th Avenue, Flushing.

Library Café hosts Nightmare on Main Street, their annual Halloween party on Saturday, 9 p.m. Features a DJ and a costume contest. No cover charge. Saturday,  9 p.m., 274 Main Street, Farmingdale.

The Bayside Historical Society will hold its 12th annual "Totten Trot" 5k foot race this year on Sunday. Sign-in: 7:30am/Race Start: 9am Runners should meet at "The Castle" in Fort Totten Park - 208 Totten Avenue, Bayside.

Bring the kids Sunday to the Sands Point Preserve for a Haunted Halloween Party from 2-4 p.m. Come in costume and walk the spooky Halloween maze in Castle Gould on Sunday. Admission is $20 per car; $10 with annual pass - and free with the purchase of tickets to "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," a contemporary one-hour opera for families from 4-5 p.m. Performed by the Dicapo Opera Theatre in Castle Gould's Great Hall, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" tells the plight of the schoolteacher, Ichabod Crane, who is ridiculed by the townsfolk until he mysteriously disappears,  A perfectly scary family opera in time for Halloween!
