Hungry This Weekend? Try A 'Taste of Forest Hills'
Annual event returns to Forest Hills Gardens on Saturday.
This weekend, residents looking for some great food and good times with their neighbors should think about stopping by
For the seventh consecutive year, The Community House will be hosting its “Taste of Forest Hills” event, featuring sample dishes and wines from a dozen local restaurants. It all comes together in an effort to prove that some of New York City’s finest food comes from Queens, not Manhattan.
Lily Zivkovic, chair of the Community House Executive Board, said that the idea to bring some of the neighborhood’s best restaurants together and help raise money for some not-for-profit programs, and bring neighbors together.

“We have the best of local restaurants participating, as well as their owners and chefs, and local celebrities,” Zivkovic said. “Usually around 200 people show up.”

The event is the brainchild of Community House board members Gary Grunner and Joe Keane, who wanted to find a way to help bring business-owners and community members together.
Zivkovic said that bringing the best food and drink into a local gathering spot was a natural idea for Forest Hills, an area where family connections are paramount.
“[The Community House] continues to be a warm and family-oriented establishment where the children of our children will come to keep the legacy of joy, laughter and, most of all, community together.”
For Community House members, the event costs $30, and non-members can attend for a $40 fee. The proceeds will benefit children’s programs that are run by the Community House.
