Imam Shamsi Ali will discuss basic teachings of Islam, with special emphasis on how Islam differs from and is similar to Judaism.

On Sunday, May 22, at 2:00 p.m., Imam Shamsi Ali will discuss the basic teachings and practices of Islam, with special emphasis on how Islam differs from and is similar to Judaism. He will also discuss the history of Islam and shared Jewish/Muslim history. He'll talk about the variety of Muslim beliefs and practices today, the status of women, and the perspective of Muslims on other religions and on fundamentalism. Bring your curiosity and your questions!
Imam Shamsi Ali is the spiritual leader of Jamaica Muslim Center, New York City's largest Islamic center, and serves on the Board of the Tanenbaum Center of Interreligious Understanding.
