Leonard's Dealings Not Kosher, Says Local Caterer

Long Island banquet hall sued by Forest Hills businessman.

A Forest Hills kosher caterer has filed suit against a Great Neck banquet hall, in a battle of former partners, according to the New York Post.

Glatt Gourmet Cuisine, a Forest Hills-based caterer, has filed for over $6 million in damages against Leonard’s of Great Neck, a popular Long Island catering hall, for conspiring to foul their business agreement by deliberately tanking their dates with Jewish clientele.

Aba Ibragimov, the owner of Glatt Gourmet Cuisine, said that starting in 2008 and continuing to this day, Leonard’s has urged its staff to be rude to, and spill drinks on, Jewish customers who come to the banquet hall.

The trouble started, Ibragimov said, when Leonard’s, a grandiose catering hall that draws customers from all over Long Island, started to consider another Forest Hills-based restaurant and caterer DaMikelle on Queens Boulevard, for their catering needs.

The lawsuit, which was filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, seeks over $10 million in total damages, $6.2 million from Leonard’s and $4 million from DaMikelle.
