Local Leaders Raise Awareness of Rape Attacks

After incidents, Koslowitz, Quinn join others in spreading the news.

A group of local leaders took public safety into their own hands on Friday, passing out fliers and reminding residents to be on the lookout

Bright and early Friday morning, City Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz, D-Forest Hills, was joined by Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras, state Sen. Toby Stavisky and Assembly member Grace Meng near the Continental Avenue subway station.

Police in Forest Hills have been looking for a suspect wanted in connection with two rapes and one mugging in the area.

They handed out fliers with information and reminded commuters to keep their eyes open at all times.
