Portion Of Austin Street Will Be Car-Free Later This Month: What To Know

The event is organized in connection with Neighbors for a Safer Austin Street and NYC Open Streets.

FOREST HILLS, NY — Austin Street in Forest Hills will transform into a pedestrian-friendly community space later this month as part of an Open Streets program offering free public seating, outdoor activities, kids’ crafts, games and community resources.

The program will take place on Sundays from August 30 through September 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., along Austin Street between 71st Avenue and 71st Road.

The initiative is designed to give neighbors a chance to enjoy the street without regular vehicle traffic while participating in family-friendly activities and connecting with local community resources.
