Second Teacher in a Week Arrested on Child Sex Charges

A Queens teacher was arrested at the Thursday morning, charged with sexual abuse of a child under the age of 11, police said.

Brett Picou, 30, turned himself over to police voluntarily. He was also charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child and course of sexual conduct against a child.

Picou is reportedly an art teacher at P.S. 52 in Springfield Gardens; it was not immediately clear why he turned himself in at the Forest Hills precinct house.

The incident is the second time in less than a week that local police have made an arrest of a teacher for sexual abuse of a student.

The Department of Education has not yet responded to a request for comment.
