BROOKLYN, NY — Brooklyn will celebrate Dominican music and culture this weekend with a free concert at the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park.
Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso and BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! will host Dominican Night at the Bandshell on Saturday, August 29. The lineup includes legendary bachata singer Teodoro Reyes, Dominican dembow artist La Insuperable, tropical and Latin performer Aris Jackson, and DJ Mega Jay.
The event celebrates Brooklyn's large Dominican community and the influence of Dominican culture on the borough's music and arts scene. Reynoso, the first Dominican American elected Brooklyn borough president, said the event will bring the sounds of bachata and dembow to Prospect Park for a night of music and dancing.
Doors open at 5 p.m., with the show beginning at 6 p.m. Entry is free and first-come, first-served. An ASL interpreter will also be available.
Dominican Night is part of BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn!, New York City's longest-running free outdoor performing arts festival. The Lena Horne Bandshell is located at 141 Prospect Park West.
