Brooklyn Public Library Unveils Its New Craft Supply Library

The library's Craft Supply Library launched on Wednesday.

BROOKLYN, NY — The Brooklyn Public Library is making it easier for patrons to try crafting without investing in expensive supplies or finding space to store them.

The library's Craft Supply Library launched on Wednesday and will allow Brooklyn Public Library patrons with adult library cards to borrow a selection of craft kits and tools.

Patrons can check out up to three craft kits and two craft tools at a time. Kits can be borrowed for up to three weeks, while tools have a one-week lending period.

The free program is currently available exclusively through Central Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza.

Patrons can search the library catalog and place craft supplies on hold, then pick up and return items at the Art and Music Space on the second floor.

Borrowers are asked to return supplies cleaned and with all components in their original cases or boxes. Items must not be returned through book drops, and failure to return supplies can result in fines and borrowing restrictions.

The initiative gives Brooklyn residents an opportunity to explore new creative hobbies while reducing the cost and storage barriers often associated with crafting.
