The councilwoman — who represents Fort Greene, Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy — is up for reelection and has spent the past months campaigning across the borough.
She will face off against Ede Fox, who also hopes to represent the 35th District of Brooklyn in 2018, during the partisan primaries slated for Sept. 12.

Cumbo continued to work on her campaign up until Thursday, when she first went into labor, according to an official statement.
Cumbo, 42, spent 24 hours in labor before giving birth to her son, whom she reported to be in good health on Facebook.
“We are all at home recovering... not too ready for any glam photo shoots yet,” wrote Cumbo on Facebook.
“I'm learning how to breastfeed, express milk, change diapers and if anyone can teach me how to swaddle I'm all ears lol!”
