Cumbo To Host Affordable Housing Workshop In Fort Greene

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — Those searching for affordable housing through the city's lottery system can get some help from Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo's office next week.
The council majority leader will host a "Ready to Rent" workshop in Fort Greene on Tuesday for those looking for help navigating the city's affordable housing system.
"Are you searching for an affordable apartment through the NYC housing lottery?" a flyer for the event reads. "Preparing early is important. Credit history matters. Get ready to submit a stronger housing application!"

The workshop will include free one-on-one counseling from financial professionals and application assistance from a "housing ambassador."
With the finance counselors, attendees can check their credit, calculate their income for housing and learn how to save for moving expenses. The housing ambassadors will help participants happy for housing lotteries using Housing Connect and prepare to show that they qualify.

The event is co-sponsored by Impacct Brooklyn.
It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brooklyn Music School, found at 126 St. Felix Street.
