This summer, South of the Navy Yard Artists (SONYA) presents their 13th Annual Studio Art Stroll, a self-guided tour of SONYA Artist members‚ studios, and galleries within our community. Greenlight is honored to be one of many local businesses displaying the work of local artists for the Stroll, and excited to present the art of George Spencer! Spencer lives and works in the neighborhood (his Washington Avenue studio Presents Gallery is half a block from the Navy Yard), and has displayed his art both publicly and privately around the city, and his work has sold to collectors around the world.
Greenlight will be showcasing paintings from Spencer's "The Boxing Series," begun in 1989 and now encompassing thousands of paintings which go beyond the sport of boxing to personify universal emotions.
