The community has raised nearly $3,000 to help the family of the kindergartner, who suddenly died this week in Vinegar Hill.
VINEGAR HILL, BROOKLYN — A fundraiser has been set up to help the family of a 6-year-old boy from Vinegar Hill who suddenly died earlier this week in his building in the Farragut housing complex.
Amarie Ranson, a kindergartener at P.S. 307, was found unconscious and unresponsive in the 111 Bridge Street building by officers around 7:16 p.m. on Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at Brooklyn Hospital.
Friends have set up the GoFundMe to help Amarie's mom, Veronica Ransom, get through the next few months.

"This tragic death was so sudden that we want to ask for support through prayer and finances," the page reads. "We would like to raise $10,000 for Veronica to get her through the next months, help her with the upcoming expenses and possibly take some time off from work to grieve for her son."
Amarie was Ransom's only child, the post said. The fundraiser has raised nearly $3,000 for the family.
