Hakeem Jeffries State Of District Address In Ft. Greene Next Week

The U.S. representative will speak at Brooklyn Technical High School.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — U.S. Rep. Hakeem Jeffries will host a state of the district address in Fort Greene next week.

The congressman will speak at Brooklyn Technical High School at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31. The event will also feature music and performances from local residents, he said in an email.

"During the speech, I will discuss the progress we have made in our community over the last year, the Trump administration and the unique challenges we will face as a community, city and country going forward," the announcement read.

Jeffries represents New York's Eighth Congressional District which covers Bed Stuy, downtown Brooklyn, East New York , Coney Island and a section of Queens. He was first elected in 2013 and most recently won a vote to be the Democrats' new caucus chair in November.

Those attending the event should enter the school, at 29 Fort Greene Place, at the South Elliot Place and Dekalb Avenue entrance.
