Justin Bieber's Style 'Secret Weapon' Is This Clinton Hill Shop

The Brooklyn vintage shop-owner was featured in GQ for his role in Bieber's 2018 style.

CLINTON HILL, BROOKLYN — Apparently Justin Bieber's eclectic style choices this year can be traced back to a store right here in Brooklyn. A recent GQ article found that Myrtle Avenue's Leisure Life NYC and its owner have been the source behind some of Bieber's more memorable looks in 2018.

Whether it be NBA starter jackets with custom-sewn patches,a slew of graphic tees or a Hawaiian shirt made from different Hawaiian shirts stitched together, Bieber has worn an item from the store 41 different times this year. Sometimes, he dons more than one, the article found.

"As Bieber’s style has progressed—a kind way of saying it grew incredibly bizarre—we’ve collectively tried to pin down the source," the article said. "The answer turns out to be...A dude out in Brooklyn was given 'the opportunity to make one of the world's biggest celebrities look good.'”

Leisure Life owner Charnier Corey told the magazine that it all started when a member of the popstar's styling team, unbeknownst to him, paid a visit to the store, which sells vintage clothes and its own brands.

The stylist would later email Corey and ask that he help find quirky pieces for Bieber's "Purpose" world tour. Corey sent over a bunch of items, but thought the deal would be off once he heard the rest of the"Purpose" tour had been cancelled.

But, the singer liked the pieces so much that his team told Corey to keep sending them.

The relationship has been especially good business for the store, which opened in 2013, Corey told the magazine. He stocks up on items that he sends to Bieber so that there's enough when fans stop by to replicate the look.

Corey told GQ that for him, choosing things to send to Bieber has been about sharing his own personal style.

“I’m giving him me,” Corey said. “I’m giving him the real s***. If I was Justin Bieber, this is what I f****** would wear.”
