Look up here, I'm in heaven. Contemporary portraiture exhibition.

BRIC hosts a show of contemporary portraiture, featuring the work of David Antonio Cruz, Yashua Klos, Tschabalala Self, and Yoon Ji Seon.

Curated by Elizabeth Ferrer, Vice President, Contemporary Art,
and Jenny Gerow, Assistant Curator

Opening Reception: Wednesday, June 29, 7-9pm

Featuring paintings, works on paper, and mixed-media work by David Antonio Cruz, Yashua Klos, Tschabalala Self, and Yoon Ji Seon, Look up here, I’m in heaven focuses on work by artists who construct portraits using unconventional media and pictorial formats. While race, cultural identity, and contemporary realities are central elements of the work on view, these artists create imagery that goes beyond the here and now to establish a more transcendent sense of self.
