Man Hit And Killed Crossing Flatbush Avenue In Brooklyn, Cops Say

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — A 33-year-old man died early Tuesday morning after he was hit by a car trying to cross the street on Flatbush Avenue, police said.

Luis Garcia, who was from Sunset Park, walked into the intersection near Flatbush and Fourth Avenues just after midnight even though he didn't have a crossing signal, police said. He was hit by a Dodge Stratus that had been driving south on Flatbush Avenue.

Emergency responders found Garcia lying in the road with a severe injury to his head. They brought him to Brooklyn Hospital, but he was pronounced dead, police said.

The 55-year-old driver of the Dodge stayed at the scene of the crash. There are no arrests and police are still investigating, they said.

Garcia lived on 31st Street in Sunset Park, records show.
