People's State of the Union
A free community event with music, art, spoken word, dinner, & story circles!
Once a year, the President delivers the State of the Union address to highlight important national issues from the past year and suggest priorities for the year to come. It’s a broadcast from one to many. But what if, once a year, we could all speak and listen to each other?
Fort Greene Peace & Brooklyn For Peace, in affiliation with people-powered U.S. Department of Arts and Culture, invite you to play a role in creating the People’s State of the Union. People’s State of the Union (PSOTU) is an invitation for people everywhere to reflect and take part in shaping the current state of our union.
From January 23-31, 2016, communities will gather in Story Circles across the country, sharing personal stories reflecting on the state of our union. These stories will be shared back online, creating a collective selfportrait of our country and providing inspiration for the Poetic Address to the Nation, broadcast live in February.
