Regina King Making Hip-Hopera "Cinderfella" With Fort Greene Rap Icon Dana Dane
'Cindefella' raps and sports a Kangol cap and argyle socks. It's Cinderella, Fort Greene style.

FORT GREENE, BROOKLYN — Every neighborhood has its Cinderella story but only Fort Greene can boast a “Cinderfella.”
And Fort Greene has reason to boast, because local legendary rapper Dana Dane and "American Crime" actress Regina King have plans to turn Dane’s 1987 classic “Cinderfella” into a hip-hopera movie, according to a TMZ report.
King and Dane — the Fort Greene phenom of Kangol Crew fame — have written a film script based Dane’s song and are currently pitching the project, TMZ reported.

The song tells the story of a poor young man from Fort Greene (Dane) whose fairy godfather “Hurb” decks him out in a new suit, Bally shoes, argyle socks, a Kangol cap and sends him off to the princess’ rap contest in a brand new Volvo.
Things go as you'd expect.

TMZ did not report whether the film would be set or shot in Fort Greene but added Ice Cube might be involved in the project.
