St. Joseph's College Opens New Athletic Space to Community

The 2,000-square-foot indoor turf facility will celebrate its grand opening on January 28.

St. Joseph's College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will host an opening ceremony for its newly renovated athletic rental space on Monday, January 28 at 12:40 p.m. in SJC Brooklyn's St. Angela Hall. This renovation is part of the College's ongoing efforts to ensure that its physical space best meets the needs of its students and the community.

This 2,000-square-foot space is outfitted with next-generation artificial turf that can be used for indoor practice for soccer, baseball, softball, and other sports. The space also comes equipped with retractable batting cages and can be arranged in a number of different configurations to meet a wide range of training needs. To date, SJC Brooklyn has secured arrangements with several local nonprofit youth athletic groups and looks forward to engaging new partners.

"This new space is a welcome addition to the College's athletic programs and will provide our NCAA student-athletes with the facilities they need to train and thrive in competition," said James Lally, SJC Brooklyn's athletic director. "More importantly, it will also help us integrate our athletic program into the community. The benefits of physical activity and exercise are clear as day and we're proud to offer this safe, affordable space to neighborhood groups of all ages for training and, exercise."
