Nassau Police arrested two women who they say attacked the owner of a beauty supply store when he tried to stop them from shoplifting.

According to police, the two women entered Ebony Beauty Supply on West Merrick Road in Freeport at 3:15 p.m. on Oct. 13. The owner recognized one of the women, who police say had previously shoplifted from the store.

Police say the owner saw the woman shoplifting again, confronted her as she was leaving, and asked to see her bag. The woman became enraged, punched the owner in the face, then fled the store with the other woman, police said. As the two women were fleeing, one reached into the other's bag and threw stolen merchandise on the store's floor.
