2 Men Mugged While Walking On Nassau Street: Police

Police say three men were responsible for the mugging, and that they fled when they couldn't steal a watch.

Two men were mugged in Freeport early Saturday morning, and police are looking for the people responsible.

According to police, the two men, ages 41 and 74, were walking in front of 23 Hanse Ave. in Freeport at 4:50 a.m. on Aug. 17. They were approached from behind by three men, one of whom stole a wallet from one of the victims. One of the robbers tried to pull a watch off the wrist of one of the men but failed. The three then fled on foot north on Nanse Avenue.

Both of the victims had redness and minor cuts to their face, police said, and were taken to a hospital for treatment. The investigation is ongoing.
