All Roosevelt School District Schools in Good Academic Standing

The Roosevelt School District recently announced that every school in the District is in good academic standing, as per the New York State Education Department. This is the second year in a row every school in the District received this status.

“I am very proud of our Board of Education, Cabinet, principals and teachers for their collective efforts to keep the District moving in an upward trajectory,” said Roosevelt School District Superintendent Dr. Marnie Hazelton. “We are pleased by this recognition of Roosevelt students’ success, and are honored to serve as a model for other districts on Long Island.”

Each year every school in New York State is evaluated by the Office of Accountability (OA) and Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) as part of a state effort to close the achievement gap by identifying and supporting low-performing schools. OA and LEA efforts help under-performing schools replicate the best practices of the State’s high performing and high progressing schools and districts. The Office implements New York’s Accountability System under the approved Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Flexibility Waiver, by supporting schools and LEAs that are Priority and/or Focus through the assignment of Integrated Intervention Teams (IIT), who review organizational structures and educational practices and make recommendations for district and school improvements.

“Our next goal as a District is to continue to constantly improve,” said Roosevelt School District Superintendent Dr. Marnie Hazelton. “We look forward to setting the bar higher both inside and outside the classroom next year and in future years to come.”
