Students in the culinary arts program at Roosevelt High School in the Roosevelt School District recently took learning beyond the classroom with an immersive trip to the Museum of Food and Drink in DUMBO, Brooklyn, located within the vibrant Time Out Market.
During the visit, students explored the rich history of food, gained insight into culinary traditions from around the world and experienced a variety of flavors that highlighted cultural diversity and innovation in the culinary arts. The trip provided a unique opportunity for hands-on learning, allowing students to connect classroom lessons with real-world experiences in a dynamic setting.
“This experience is a wonderful example of how we can bring learning to life for our students,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Shawn Wightman. “By engaging directly with the history, science, and creativity behind food, our students are expanding their understanding of the culinary field and discovering new possibilities for their future careers.”
Roosevelt High School’s culinary arts program is one of several career and technical education programs designed to give students the opportunities to explore their skills and passions while gaining real world experience. These programs demonstrates the District’s commitment to providing meaningful educational opportunities that inspire curiosity, creativity and career readiness for all students.
