• Freeport Man Sentenced to 23½ Years to Life for Kidnapping, Beating and Threatening Ex-Girlfriend (newsbreak.com) — A Freeport man has been sentenced to 23½ years to life in prison after a Nassau County jury convicted him of kidnapping, assault, and related charges for a prolonged attack and threats against his former girlfriend. Prosecutors say Freeport police, with Nassau officers, arrested him in 2024, and the district attorney credits the victim's persistence for helping secure the lengthy sentence.
