Driver In 106 MPH Fatal DWI Crash Sentenced, Crash Killed AHRC Nassau Worker: NCDA

"...his recently engaged daughter, who will now sadly walk down the aisle without her father by her side," DA Donnelly says.

FREEPORT, NY — A Lindenhurst man was sentenced on Monday for a 2025 fatal drunk-driving crash that killed an AHRC Nassau worker in Freeport, the Nassau County District Attorney's Office said.

The man was accused of driving more than 100 mph while intoxicated when he ran a red light and killed 55-year-old Craig White, the DA's office said.

Bryan Mizhirumbay, 24, pleaded guilty on Aug. 12, 2026, before Judge Caryn Fink to aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, and aggravated driving while intoxicated per se, the DA's Office said.

Prosecutors announced that Mizhirumbay was sentenced on Monday to seven to 15 years in prison.

"Craig White was a devoted father, friend, and beloved member of the AHRC Nassau community," DA Anne Donnelly said. "His life was violently stolen because of the selfish and reckless decisions of this defendant."

On Sep. 3, 2025, at about 11:07 p.m., Craig White was driving home from work at AHRC Nassau in Freeport when he was struck, the DA's office said. White was traveling northbound on S. Long Beach Avenue through the intersection with Atlantic Avenue while Mizhirumbay was driving eastbound on Atlantic Avenue, prosecutors said.

According to the DA's office, Mizhirumbay approached the intersection with S. Long Beach Avenue at a high rate of speed – as high as 106 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone.

Mizhirumbay ran a red light at the intersection and slammed into the driver's side of White's vehicle, the DA's office said.

"Mizhirumbay struck Craig's car so hard that the impact actually pushed Craig's driver seat into the passenger side of the vehicle," DA Donnelly said. "That tragic moment created a ripple of grief and pain for all those who loved Craig, including his recently engaged daughter, who will now sadly walk down the aisle without her father by her side."

On impact, prosecutors said both cars were tossed northeast across the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Long Beach Road, with White's car crashing through Atlantic Nursery's fence. Mizhirumbay's car came to a rest on the westbound shoulder, prosecutors said, and "became engulfed in flames."

White was found unconscious and trapped in the driver's seat, prosecutors said. He was taken to Mount Sinai South Nassau and pronounced dead, prosecutors said.

Mizhirumbay was taken to Nassau University Medical Center, where a blood sample revealed his his blood alcohol concentration, about an hour after the crash, was .18 percent, the DA's office said.

Data collected from his vehicle showed that Mizhirumbay had been driving 106 miles per hour three seconds before the crash, and he applied intermittent braking before hitting White's car at about 90 miles per hour, prosecutors said.

Mizhirumbay surrendered on January 20, 2026, to the NCPD Homicide Squad, the DA's office said.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Bureau Chief Katie Zizza and Assistant District Attorney Brittany Battista of the Vehicular Crimes Bureau under the supervision of Bureau Chief Michael Bushwack and under the overall supervision of Executive Assistant District Attorney for the Litigation Division Daryl Levy, and the defendant is represented by Steven Gaitman, Esq., the DA's office said.
