Fire At Island Park Business Prompts Large Response

Fire crews were called to Freeport Transmissions after employees tried to extinguish the fire themselves, authorities said.

ISLAND PARK, NY — A fire broke out at an Island Park business Friday, prompting a response from multiple fire departments, the Nassau County Police Department said in a news release.

Fire crews were called to Freeport Transmissions, located at 5000 Long Beach Rd. in Island Park, shortly before 5 p.m. According to authorities, employees attempted to put out the fire with an extinguisher but the flames quickly spread. All employees were able to exit the building before calling 911, police said.

The Island Park Fire Department responded and was assisted by the Oceanside, Baldwin, Long Beach and Freeport fire departments.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported, according to authorities.

The fire remains under investigation.
