A Flordia duo was arrested in Freeport Tuesday night after police say a loaded handgun in their car during a traffic stop.

According to police, officers were on routine patrol just before 11:30 p.m. and saw a 2018 Dodge Charger heading north on South Ocean Avenue. The officers pulled the car over at the intersection with Ray Street. During the investigation, the officers said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana in the car.

While searching the car, police say they found a loaded semi-automatic handgun. The two occupants of the car — Devan Hall, 29, and Tamika Hicks, 32, both of Florida — were placed under arrest.
