Freeport Appoints New Superintendent Of Schools

Fia Davis comes to Freeport from the Bronx where he oversaw more than 20,000 students as a superintendent.

FREEPORT, NY — The Freeport Board of Education has named Fia Davis its next superintendent of schools.

Davis has extensive experience working in the New York City Board of Education. She was superintendent of three Bronx school districts and since 2022, oversaw more than 20,000 city students.

Before her role as superintendent, she held positions as deputy superintendent of a Bronx district and as a principal for 15 years.

"We are confident that she will continue to build upon our district's successes and drive forward innovative programs that enrich our students' learning," the school board said. "Ms. Davis’s experience and commitment to education will undoubtedly make our district an even more wonderful place for our students, staff and community."

Davis succeeds Dr. Kishore Kuncham, who has been with the district for 30 years, 15 of which were as superintendent.
