FREEPORT, NY — A student at Freeport High School was arrested for bringing a gun into the school on Monday.

The principal was notified of a photo in the school bathroom showing the 16-year-old boy holding what appeared to be a firearm, authorities said.

Police were notified and an investigation was conducted. The boy was arrested without incident and charged with criminal possession of a firearm on school grounds. He was expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
