Freeport’s Music Program Is Solid Gold

The school was honored by the Long Island Music Hall of Fame for its music program.

The music program at Freeport High School was recognized as a Gold Music Program of Excellence by the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. This recognition is a testament to its ensembles, dedicated faculty, K-12 Arts Standards connection, student-led groups, special events as well as strong support from the board of education and the community.

This is the first year the LIMHF has honored high school music programs, and Freeport High School is one of just seven high schools across the Island to receive this distinction. Freeport will be recognized with a banner to commemorate the honor at a special ceremony at Northport High School, where the Freeport High School Select Chorale will also have the opportunity to showcase its talents in a 5 to 10 minute performance.

Freeport achieved gold for various reasons cited by the LIMHF, including the school’s special integrated events for Peace and Black History Month, its unique Mariachi-based program, summer music program, and recent renovation of the Performing Arts Center at Freeport High School.
