Freeport Woman Killed in Upstate Car Crash
Her car had run out of gas when it was struck by a tractor trailer.

A Freeport woman was killed in a car crash upstate early Thursday morning after her car ran out of gas on Interstate 81 in Cortland County.
According to state police, Rashida N. Brown, 40, had stopped her 2016 Toyota Corolla in the driving lane of I-81 near mile marker 45 in the town of Virgil at 3:52 a.m. She had just run out of gas, and her lights were off.
Brown's car was struck by a tractor trailer being driven by Roger L. Brooks, 59, of Virginia. The collision caused the tractor trailer to overturn. Brown was inside her car at the time of the crash. She was taken to Cortland Regional Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

State police say the investigation is ongoing, but no arrests have been made and no traffic tickets have been issued.
