LI Man Arrested Upstate For Transporting Marijuana: Police

State police say the man was pulled over on the New York State Thruway with nearly two pounds of marijuana in his car.

A traffic stop on the New York State Thruway earlier this week led to a Freeport man being arrested for allegedly transporting nearly two pounds of marijuana.

According to police, on Aug. 13 at 10:51 a.m., a state trooper pulled over Shanon M. Wilson, 33, in the town of Coxsackie for vehicle and traffic violations. Police say that, while speaking to Wislon, the officer had probable cause to search his car. Police say Wilson had 1.8 pounds of marijuana in his car.

Wilson was placed under arrest and charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana and vehicle and traffic law violations.

He was arraigned in Coxsackie Court and remanded to the Green County Jail.
