Nassau Bank Robbed During Peak Hours

BREAKING: There were 10 customers in the bank when it was robbed. No one was hurt.

Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank in Freeport in the middle of the day.

According to police, the robber entered the Bethpage Federal Credit Union at 210 West Merrick Road at 12:35 p.m. He approached a teller and gave them a demand note. The teller complied and gave the robber and undisclosed amount of cash. Then the robber fled in an unknown direction.

There were 10 customers and 8 employees in the bank at the time. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, wearing a blue hooded jacket and black square-rimmed glasses.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
