Nassau County Man Charged In Car Burglary Spree: Police

Police said they received several 911 calls Friday morning about a man going through vehicles. Several cars were also damaged.

FREEPORT, NY — A Freeport man is facing numerous charges after police said he broke into and damaged several cars in Nassau County early Friday morning.

Marvin Freeley, 32, is charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, two counts of criminal mischief, petit larceny, and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, Nassau County police said in a release.

According to detectives, officers received several 911 calls about a man going through vehicles shortly before 3:30 a.m. in Roosevelt. Police also received reports of multiple damaged vehicles on Soma Place and Maple Street.

Officers went to the area and located Freeley, taking him into custody following. a brief foot pursuit. Police said he dropped several stolen items in nearby yards before his arrest. The items were recovered and identified by victims, police said.

No injuries were reported, according to police.

Freeley is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday.
