Nassau Man Was Driving Drunk With Young Nephew In Car: Police

Police say he was pulled over for turning without a signal, and they found he was driving drunk.

A Freeport man was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with driving drunk with his young nephew in the car.

According to police, officers saw Darwin Flores-Castillo, 28, of Union Street, fail to signal before making a turn onto Mathilda Place from Uniondale Avenue in Uniondale shortly before 5 a.m. Officers pulled the car over, and police say they smelled alcohol on his breath and saw Flores-Castillo had glassy eyes and slurred speech. Police say his 5-year-old nephew was in the back seat.

Flores-Castillo was placed under arrest. The boy was released to his mother at the scene.
