Nassau Police Seeking Public's Help To Solve Cold Case Murder

The body of a young woman was found in a dumpster in Freeport in 1982. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

FREEPORT, NY — The Nassau County Police Department is seeking the public's help to solve a cold case murder that occurred in 1982.

According to police, the body of a young woman was found in a dumpster on North Main Street, near the intersection of Mount Joy Avenue, in Freeport on Nov. 4, 1982.

The woman was in her teens or early 20s, and between 5 feet and 5 feet, 3 inches tall. She was found wearing a yellow heart pendant necklace with a green stone with the letter K in the center.

Police ask anyone with information about this cold case to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS, or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
