Nassau Woman Injures 6 In High-Speed Chase: Police

Nassau police said Gabrielle Revere crashed into a police cruiser, a taxi and two cars.

FREEPORT, NY — A Freeport woman was arrested Saturday night after police said she led officers on a high-speed chase and crashed into a police cruiser, taxi and two cars, injuring six people.

According to police, Gabrielle Revere, 24, of Best Street, had a brief interaction with police officers near the Freeport Police Department headquarters at 9:05 p.m. Police said she then drove off and committed several traffic violations.

Police said Revere was driving erratically and intentionally hit a police car, injuring an officer. Revere then started driving against the flow of traffic and drove into a parked taxi, police say.

Officers chased Revere as she continued driving east on Sunrise Highway and drove over the center median, police said. As she came to the intersection of Sunrise Highway and Merrick Avenue, police said she drove into two cars that were stopped in traffic. Three women and two girls in the cars were hurt and taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Revere was placed under arrest and taken to a hospital.

Revere is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, two counts of third-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree criminal mischief, two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, first-degree leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, and multiple traffic violations. She was arraigned on Sunday and held on bail of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
